About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our Cloud Workload Protection Platform(CWPP) which is a key product area for CrowdStrike that is evolving rapidly. The team is extending CrowdStrike’s mission of “stopping breaches” into the public cloud and cloud-native workloads with the ultimate goal of providing a single platform for securing the entire lifecycle of cloud workloads from development through deployment to run-time.
The Software Development Engineer will join the CWPP Detections team that is in charge of building and maintaining detection and prevention features and capabilities for protecting cloud workloads and infrastructure, and containers and Kubernetes in particular. This is a unique opportunity to join a team that works at the intersection of software development and cloud security and is responsible for delivering complex features spanning the entire security stack from agents and sensors to cloud services.
Experience level: 6+ years.
What You’ll Do
  • Research threats specific to containers and container orchestrators within cloud-native environments and identify approaches to detecting and preventing them by leveraging Crowdstrike’s platform that processes over a trillion of events every day from millions of sensor deployments
  • Research and develop new and introduce improvements to the existing detection and prevention capabilities and features that protect cloud workloads and infrastructure
  • Build cloud services for detection and prevention features using the technology stack that includes Golang, AWS, K8s, Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, etc.
  • Build detection and prevention logic for sensors and agents using domain-specific languages and tools
Requirements
While having all the technical skills from the list would be a big plus, successful candidates are expected to have deep understanding in two or three areas and desire and demonstrable ability to learn the rest.
  • Deep experience with one or more programming languages such as Golang, C/C++, Python, Java
  • Experience developing software for Linux using C/C++ OR experience developing cloud services/distributed systems (preferably using Golang)
  • Understanding of cloud-native technologies such as Containers and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of Operating System principles (Linux is preferred)
  • Understanding of networking and virtualization concepts
  • Interest in cloud workload security
  • Ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverables, both individually and when leading a group of engineers
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a globally distributed team
Bonus Points
  • Prior experience building cybersecurity products
  • Deep understanding of Linux OS, Container and Kubernetes internals
  • Ability to reverse-engineer software and perform threat research
  • Experience in DevSecOps domain
